SSCAIT
The SSCAIT, or Student StarCraft AI Tournament, has been held since 2011. It was founded at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, together with the Czech Technical University in Prague. Together with AIIDE and CIG/CoG it is one of the three big AI tournaments for Brood War AI. Games are played and streamed all the time, and the finals take place in winter. An edition is named after the year it starts: the SSCAIT 2014 bracket, for example, was played in January and February 2015.
Organization
The first edition in 2011 had 50 bots, divided into 10 groups of 5, and the top 16 advanced to a double-elimination bracket. Roman Danielis won. Later editions have two divisions:
- Student division: a round robin. Only individual students can score points and win prizes (or certificates).
- Mixed division: an elimination bracket of the best bots, 8 at first and 16 from 2015, including non-students and teams.
The tournament is open to the public: any individual or group can take part, but special rules apply to students. It has been the biggest Brood War AI tournament in the world, with between 42 and 78 participants per edition.
