CIG and CoG

The CIG, or Computational Intelligence and Games, is part of the IEEE CIG conference on computational intelligence and games. It has been held since 2010, when it was first organized by TU Dortmund, Germany. In 2019 the conference was rebranded CoG, and the competition with it. Together with AIIDE and SSCAIT it is one of the three big AI tournaments for Brood War AI. The focus of CIG is more on research than on winning.

Organization

TU Dortmund ran the competition in 2011 to 2013. In later years the competition site was run by the Cognition & Intelligence Lab (CILab) at Sejong University, Korea. The CoG 2026 edition was organised by David Churchill at Memorial University of Newfoundland, with results on davechurchill.ca/starcraft/cog. Most editions are a full round robin, as in the AIIDE.

The 2010 edition had hosting problems and no winner is known to this site. Each edition page lists every participant whose result is available.

The 2021 and 2023 podiums are taken from Liquipedia; the organisers' result pages were offline when this site was checked. Liquipedia also lists no StarCraft competition at CoG in 2024 and 2025.
